Wonmi Seo explores psychological landscapes shaped by memory, anxiety, and trauma. In her recent works, she shifts her focus to 'painting' itself, breaking free from the constraints of form and content. She conveys abstract shapes with primal colours and expressive brushstrokes, allowing the act of painting to become its own narrative.

For Seo, a painting is an unfiltered reflection of the artist's time, environment, and innate sensibility as a creator. She engages in a process of discovery-like a game of hide-and-seek-uncovering images, layering the ebb and flow of time spent before the canvas, and capturing both visceral and physical experiences. Through this accumulation, she visualises what she calls the 'portrait of the painting.'

Seo seeks to blur the distinction between herself and her work, allowing her presence-continuously evolving through infinite variations-to merge seamlessly with the essence of painting itself.

Wonmi Seo deals with psychological landscapes surrounding memory, anxiety, and trauma, and in her recent works, she tells stories about "painting itself" that are freed from the constraints of form and content by expressing unrealistic shapes with primitive colors and brushstrokes.

For Wonmi Seo, a painting is an object that reveals the artist's time and environment, and the pure side of him as a creator. Therefore, he tries to visualize a "portrait of a painting" by exploring the image like a game of hide-and-seek, accumulating the various highs and lows he feels in front of the painting and his realistic and physical experiences on the screen.

By doing so, the artist seeks to make his presence, which creates infinite variations in his work, no different from the other names of the paintings.
