Hyelim Cha(b.1979) deals with individuals as independent entities in the information society through examining the relationship between community, society and individuals that are mediated via our contemporary media. Based upon multi-layered stories, Cha's work takes a form of constructing an interface and the space in which the work is presented. Each painting and installation is displayed via nonlinear and literary narrative with multiple layers by discovering and mapping a plethora of information from the contemporary media. Also, the great amount of information in our time is taken as a reference and constructed into an exhibition space with open structure, which in itself is transformed into another way of reading and writing through disjunctive connection, articulation, joining and traverse.

The artist graduated Kaywon School of Art&Design, majoring in Media Art. She has held several solo exhibitions at Alternative Space Loop, NON Berlin, Künstlerhaus Bethanien and more. Also, she take part in group exhibitions at Artspace Hue, Seoul Art Space Seogyo, KT&G Sangsangmadang, Seoul Museum of Art Nanji Art Studio Nanji Gallery, Seoul Arts Center, AmorePacific Museum of Art and so on. She won the Excellence Prize at SongEun Art Award from SongEun Art and Cultural Foundation, and selected in residency program such as Seoul Museum of Art Nanji Art Studio, Gyeonggi Creation Center, Seoul Art Space Geumcheon, Künstlerhaus Bethanien and more.

Hye Rim Cha has been continuously thinking about the individual as an individual in the information society through her relationship with the community, society, and the individual mediated by contemporary media. Cha's work is based on a multi-layered narrative created by the artist, and each painting and object work is presented in a way that is presented through a non-linear, literary narrative through double and triple layers by discovering, mapping, and reinterpreting a large amount of information from contemporary media. In addition, the exhibition space itself, which is woven in an open structure using a huge amount of contemporary information as a reference, is transformed into another way of reading and writing through grafting and fragmentation, joining and crossing.

Hye Rim Cha (b.1979) graduated from the Department of Media Arts at Kyeowon Institute of Fine Arts in 2006. Since then, she has held solo exhibitions at Alternative Space Loop, NON Berlin, Phoebe Gallery, Queenstlerhaus Bethennyen, and the Postal Service, and participated in numerous group exhibitions at Art Space Hugh, KT&G Imagination Park, Seogyo Art Experiment Center, Nanji Art Studio, Hangaram Museum of Art, and Amorepacific Art Museum.
